Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University (BAIBU), one of the most distinguished universities in Turkey and situated between Ankara and Istanbul which are Turkey’s two metropolis, wasfounded on 3rd July, 1992. BAIBU having growth rapidly since that time has got campuses in the city center of Bolu and in its three towns (Gerede, Mengen and Mudurnu). BAIBU setsthe third example as a state university supported by foundation among other state andfoundation universities. The University prioritizing to produce science up to internationalqualification pays attention to national and international needs during education period. BAIBU renovates itself all the time while preparing a research environment which has an international competition capacity and pursuing scientific developments and technologies in Turkey. On this way, BAIBU has covered distance since its establishment and has becomeone of the universities growing the fastest. As of day, there are 10 faculties, 4 institutes, 5 academies, 5 vocational schools and 11 research centers in the University. With its 1278 academic personnel and 784 administrative personnel, our university takes pride in providingnearly 25.000 students with quality and modern education. Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University is a university prioritizing scientific researches, pursuing international scientificdevelopments, taking producing sciences according to the results as mission. In this sense, it has done important studies by means of practice and research centers along with the institutesproviding license and graduate education. As a matter of fact, it has begun to prioritize socialresearches on social problems in coordination with the departments of Sociology, Psychology, Psychiatry and Education for Special Needs. The most concrete indicator of these studies is that BAIBU gained right to be the first university in which “The Management of thePracticing and Research Center for Preventing Violence and Crime”. The topics for the thisCenter and the Depatment of Sociology are mentioned in the regulations as such: – Migration – Migrant raws, other social regulations and practices – Human Rights – Victim rights – Children under risk – Family under the effect of global process, – Violence in family andamong relatives. Education, risks and violence in education environment, equal opportunitiesin education – Disadvantaged people and the problems of them – Every type of sociologicalfieldwork and public opinion researches.
